An overview:
This presentation is intended only for agency representatives who have contacted the Telecommunication Access Program for Internet (TAP-I) program coordinator to request that they be provided with the training necessary for them to accurately complete the TAP-I application form and to be able to certify that the applicant is unable to use standard computer equipment.
The Telecommunication Access Program for Internet (TAP-I) provides qualified applicants with the adaptive computer equipment necessary for internet and email access in their home premise and the training needed to use the adaptive computer equipment for basic email and internet access.
The Telecommunication Access Program for Internet (TAP-I) does not provide computers, does not pay for internet services and does not provide adaptive equipment not needed for basic internet access such as Braille embossers, electronic notetakers, communication devices, global positioning satellite equipment, etc. The TAP-I program does not provide basic computer training, keyboarding training or training on computer applications that are not required for basic internet access such as Word, Excel, etc.
After viewing the 30 minutes video training the agency representative should contact Brenda Whitlock at 816-655-6706 or 800-647-8557 to complete the certification process. Write down any questions you have during the presentation so that the program coordinator can answer them during your follow-up telephone call.
